Today we baked cookies using two online peanut butter cookie recipes and performed a taste test with our family and two neighbor kids as the judges.
Cookie A recipe included:
2 sticks butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
Cookie B recipe included:
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
So which cookie won?
Cookie B with 7 out of 8 votes!
All the tasters said Cookie B had more peanut flavor.
Other observations:
1. The Cookie A recipe yielded many more cookies than the Cookie B recipe.
2. Cookie A took longer to prepare than Cookie B. More ingredients.
3. Cookie A baked 5 minutes longer than Cookie B.
4. Cookie B spread more during baking than Cookie A. Otherwise, they looked exactly the same.
5. Cookie A was denser than Cookie B.
* In Cookie A recipe, I used 3/5 Whole Wheat Flour and 2/5 All Purpose Flour.
* In both recipes, I used Laura Scudder’s Old Fashioned Peanut Butter.
* I adjusted the baking time in the Cookie A recipe from 20 minutes to 15 minutes because our cookies were smaller than usual.
* I found the 10 minute baking time for Cookie B to be just right.
