We stopped at Port Hueneme on our way home from Uncle Tony’s house where we stayed for a couple of nights while our house was being fumigated. 4-19-08

Lunch with my kids

I bought lunch for Evan and Rachel at McDonalds on Friday, April 18, and took it to their school. I sat with Rachel and her friends and had a great lunch!

Career Day 2008

Rachel and Evan dressed for Career Day at school on April 11, 2008. Rachel wants to be a zookeeper. Evan wanted to be a professional football player but had to settle for a basketball player because he didn’t have a a football outfit.

2008 Primary Election Results

The family registered to vote yesterday before the Primary election vote. The party choices were Republican, Democrat and Independent. The party rolls now read as follows:

Republicans: Joel, Ana Maria, Evan and Rachel

Democrats: Jane

Independents: Ian and Kate

Winners of the presidential primary election were announced at 5:30 p.m., February 5, 2008 in the dining room.

Republican Results:
1. John McCain (3 votes/75%) 2. Mike Huckabee (1 vote/25%)

Democrat Results:
1. Barack Obama (2 votes/67%) 2. Hillary Clinton (1 vote/33%)

One more trip to Disneyland!

Joel, Kate and Jane squeezed in one more trip on the last day our passes were valid. They had a full day of fun. The parade and Small World (aka the jingle bells ride) were the favorites.

Family Celebration

We all attended the KWAT Family Celebration last night. KWAT stands for Kids Worship Arts Team. Evan and Rachel sang in the choir, Ian helped lead a couple of worship songs and Rachel also shared her work in photography. This session, the kids learned about different kinds of prayer, choral singing and photography. It was fun!

Disneyland in December

Joel ran off to Disneyland Thursday, December 13, 2007, with Evan and Rachel. They went on 21 rides! Because of the light crowds (Joel says the smallest ever), most rides were walk-on. They prepared for the cold weather and were comfortable morning to night. They especially liked the snow flurries during the fire works show. They even made time to visit Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Happy Birthday Joel!

Joel’s birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year so I made him a super chocolate cake for his speical day. The cake has a truffle brownie on the bottom layer and devil’s cake on the top layer. The frosting is dark chocolate fudge. It’s more of a chocolate bomb! Happy xxth Birthday, Joel!

We were first in line to see Disney’s Enchanted on Thanksgiving morning. It was a WONDERFUL movie and perhaps the start of a new Thanksgiving tradition!

17 Rides at Disneyland

Evan, Rachel and I spent Friday at Disneyland with the Johnsons. We arrived early and enjoyed 17 different attractions - a record for us! There were pumpkins and candy corn everywhere. FYI - Nemo was disappointing.

Ian made a presentation at school today as part of the Walk Through Ancient History. The script he wrote with his classmates has him striking down those unlucky classmates who displease him as well as controlling the beautiful climate of Greece. Let’s just say he really enjoyed preparing for this project.
